The Magic of Steam chronicles the complete and remarkable story of the Pleasant Point Museum and Railway.
For 40 years, the society has kept the sights, sounds and smells of steam engines alive in South Canterbury. Built and run by a small group of volunteers, this nationally and internationally recognised attraction continues to wow visitors from across the world.
In this DVD, you'll hear the early history of the Fairlie branch line, on part of which the railway now runs and the story of how a small static display evolved into a world-renowned attraction.
Featuring a wealth of new and archive film footage, The Magic of Steam will give you an eye-opening insight into what it takes to keep New Zealand's steam history alive. Costs $25.
