24th December. Opening of the 8-mile railway between Washdyke and Pleasant Point.

1st January. Railway Line from Pleasant Point to Albury opened (16 miles).

Line from Albury to Winscomb completed (7 miles).

9th January. Railway laid from Winscomb to Eersley (3 miles).

28th January. Timaru to Fairlie Creek line opened to general traffic.

30th January. A special excursion train was run from Timaru to Fairlie to mark the opening of the branch line.

The name of Fairlie Creek was shortened to the present "Fairlie".

9th August. Fairlie Railway Station and several carriages were destroyed by a fire.

Line from Eversley to Fairlie Closed.

22nd October. Fairlie Flyer ex-pupils held a reunion and ran a special train.

2nd March. The official closing of the Fairlie Branch Line and the running of a special 18-carriage train. 1000 passengers and two 'Ab' locomotives 718 and 798.

28th November. 'Ab' 699 the 'Fairlie Flyer' reached her last resting place. On the outskirts of Pleasant Point, she was greeted by a crowd of more than 700 people.
